Virginia Beach is a night owl’s paradise. You know that somewhere on the beach, there is a fantastic party going on in one of the areas happening hot spots. It’s clear that Virginia Beach is offering a viable, if not conspicuous, alternative to downtown life in Norfolk. I for one tend to believe that if this project is a success they’ll actually expand it into the rest of the immediate surrounding area, except perhaps for the high school that sits a few blocks away from it. Virginia Beach is best known as a resort, with miles of beaches and hundreds of hotels, motels, and restaurants along its oceanfront. It is also home to several state parks, several long protected beach areas, three military bases, a number of large corporations, two universities, and historic sites.
Virginia Beach is one of the fastest growing areas on the east coast of the United States. This area
boasts great weather all year long, with a long autumn and spring, a mild winter and a pleasant summer. Virginia Beach is home to two of the commonwealth’s growing list of green restaurants, Croc’s 19th Street Bistro and Rockafeller’s Restaurant. Virginia Beach is a place to watch with plenty of employment opportunities for the future. Industry within the region of Hampton Roads include manufacturing, military, tourism, high technology and the Port of Virginia, and the region boasts a 54 billion dollar economy.
Virginia Beach isn’t snubbed anymore: it’s the largest city in Virginia, home to more than 440,000 people and part of a metropolitan area of 1.6 million that includes Norfolk and Newport News. Famous for its naval installations and picturesque shorelines, Virginia Beach also has an eclectic array of famous residents past and present with strong ties to the area: the hip-hop stars Missy Elliott, Tim Mosley (a k a Timbaland), and Chad Hugo and Pharrell Williams; the televangelist Pat Robertson; and the legendary psychic Edgar Cayce, who in 1925 was “called” to live in this city, with its gentle climate and lush locale along the Atlantic shore. Virginia Beach is the largest city in the state of Virginia and one of the cities most visited by tourists year-round. If you are visiting the area and looking for outdoor activities in Virginia Beach, the choices are numerous. Virginia Beach is full of everyday heroes.
The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center in Virginia Beach is an exploration for all ages featuring a huge aquarium with live sharks, hands-on exhibits, otter aquariums, touch tanks, a 3-D IMAX theater, gift shops and cafe Depending upon the season you visit, take advantage of special expeditions, such as Whale Watching, Cruise the Creek and Dolphin trips. The area surrounding Virginia Beach is so full of history (Hampton Roads), that it is known as one of the United States firsts regions. The history here can be experienced first-hand due to the wonderful efforts to preserve such national treasures.
